What we do…

Last June, environmentally-conscious organizers conducted a two-day tire recycling event that netted nearly 160 tons of scrap tires.

The project partners: Future Farmers of America, Great Plains Resources and Conservation District, Seward County, University of Nebraska Extension, all three Seward County public school districts, the Seward County Fair Board, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and local businesses. The project catalyst? Seward County Bridges.

The tire recycling event is just one example of how Bridges goes about the business of connecting agencies that desire to work together toward a common goal. Seward County Pretrial Diversion, Afterschool Clubs, Family Nights, TeamMates Mentoring, End of Life Coalition, Seward County Economic Development  and other valuable programs are active in the community today thanks to the Bridges’ organization.

In today’s vernacular, Bridges “brings people to the table.” At the table, Bridges’ partners identify the community’s needs and gaps; plan strategies to address those needs and gaps; set goals; earmark funds; and implement programs.
